Export to the simulator you already use

Insight is not a replacement for your reservoir simulator. It generates the completion physics that your simulator cannot, then exports upscaled models ready to run in Eclipse, T-Navigator, Intersect, Reveal, or alongside NETool.

Workflow

From CFD analysis to reservoir model

Insight runs detailed CFD simulations at the single-joint level, capturing annulus phase segregation, valve interaction, and device-specific flow behaviour. The upscaling engine then converts these results into connection factors and valve tables that your reservoir simulator can use, preserving the physics without the computational cost.

Simulated in Insight

The upscaling method is validated against Ansys Fluent in SPE-225617-MS. Results show that ignoring annulus segregation can introduce significant errors in production forecasts for AICD/AICV completions.

Eclipse

SLB (Schlumberger)

The most widely used reservoir simulator in the industry. Insight generates Eclipse-ready keyword files with upscaled connection factors, ICD/AICD valve tables, and multi-segment well definitions that run directly in your existing Eclipse deck.

Rock Flow Dynamics

Intersect

SLB (Schlumberger)

Next-generation reservoir simulator for complex completions and advanced wells. Insight exports to Intersect format, taking advantage of its more flexible well model to represent AICD and AICV behaviour with higher fidelity than Eclipse allows.

Near-wellbore reservoir simulator focused on completion and production optimisation. Insight exports upscaled models to Reveal for detailed near-wellbore studies where annulus flow effects need to be preserved in the reservoir simulation.

Halliburton
